STORMBRAKE FLOW CONTROL
StormBrake Flow Control
The StormBrake Flow control uses the vortex principle to reduce the stormwater flow to the required rate.
When choosing a vortex flow control to restrict stormwater from the site, it is imperative to consider the long-term implications of the unit you choose. Whilst capital savings may be apparent on certain units, the maintenance issues arising may soon outweigh any potential saving made. Always consider
- The potential for blockage of the unit
- The quality and type of material used in manufacture
- The ability to have a drain-down facility behind all blockage points
- The ability to be able to rod or jet any blockage
Microstrain advise the use of the StormBrake conical unit with an automatic return facility.
StormBrake Conical Unit benefits:
- Constructed from AISI 304 Stainless Steel.
- Every control is designed to offer the most maintenance free design possible
and best meet the requirements of BS8301: 1995
- The circular inlet of the unit is placed at only 45° to the
control and therefore normal rodding or jetting of the unit is possible.
- No sumps are required
- A drain down facility is placed placed behind both potential blocking points, thus avoiding pumping of attenuation tank if blockage occurs
- An optional automatic return drain facility can be fitted to avoid manhole
entry during maintenance.
- Unlike “letter box” type controls, StormBrake flow controls present a normal pipe to the flow path and are easy to install in any manhole.
