HANNEVIND TURBINE
Microstrain has
installed the first Hannevind turbine in Ireland in 2009. It is a 5.5kW
machine which is connected to the customer’s house and also exports
excess power to the national grid when the supply exceeds demand. The customer
is getting paid 19c per kW/hr for exported electricity via an import/export
meter fitted instead of his old ESB meter. Power production by this turbine
